Packed Towers
A D. R. Technology packed bed is comprised of dumped or structured media resting on grated or perforated plate of small enough openings as to prevent individual units of the media (called packing) from passing through it while large enough to permit gas and liquid free exit and entry.

The packed bed can be arranged in a vessel such that the gas and liquid flow vertically through it or, in a large unit such that the gas passes horizontally while liquid drains vertically. Vertical packed towers can be designed to permit gas and liquid both to flow downward (co-currently) or liquid down and gas up (counter-currently). The gas and liquid loadings over the packed bed as well as the depth or length of the bed must be selected to maximize a given contact requirement while minimizing cost.
Liquid introduction to these units is carried out in either dams, spray heads, perforated plates, or perforated pipe headers. Even liquid distribution over the packed bed face area is imperative for efficient contact.

Packing media comes in many sizes, shapes, materials, and configurations. Correct media selection will insure both minimized initial and continual costs. We have a high degree of successful experience in sizing and minimizing unit costs and entertain specific inquiries on an obligation free basis.
