DIRECT AND INDIRECT CONTACT HEAT RECOVERY

Industrial and commercial facilities frequently emit warm vapor streams to the atmosphere without realizing the potential economies achievable via heat recovery.

D. R. Technology offers cost effective direct and indirect heat transfer designs which capture this waste heat for reuse in many simple, often overlooked applications. These technologies involve hot gas contact with water or other suitable liquid or gas streams. This is done directly over special packing media, trays or other customized contact media as well as indirectly via tube or plate heat exchangers. Direct contact heat recovery offers further cost advantages in that:

  • Resultant volumetric gas flows are reduced thereby reducing gas motivation energy requirements.
  • Dehumidification of hot, saturated gas results in steam plume reduction for an aesthetic bonus.
  • The contact design offers backup dust scrubbing for upstream baghouse and/or electrostatic precipitator units.
